Something To Look Forward To
I am a big fan of having something to look forward to. It moves me into one of my favourite energies - excitement!
When we are excited about something our effort levels increase. We are also more willing to make sacrifices to achieve something that matters to us.
The power of having something to look forward to can keep people alive – literally! A concert, a trip away, an event, a holiday, a hobby or people coming to visit are all things that we look forward to. I love to plan out my year - broken down into quarters, months and weeks. Each time I plan I am looking for the things that I can get excited about. I love to populate my Planner with things that increase my emotional energy.
One of my main motivations for being self employed is the fact that I can do what I want! I have created a world where I am in charge of what I do. While this can be exhausting it also gives me a lot of energy.
I love to plan events and experiences that will take people out of their everyday worlds and allow them to see themselves differently. Allow them to experience something different. A new location, a new experience but most importantly a new opportunity for them to experience themselves differently.
Travel is one of my favourite things to look forward to. The energy that we get from visiting new places can be very inspiring. Picking yourself up an plopping yourself into a new city, country or environment is so good for you. It stretches your mind and opens your head to new possibilities.
In 2012 I started taking women to Shanghai. A week-long trip for women to ‘get everything you want’. China is a magical country full of possibilities. The food, the clothing, the people and the sheer size and population of the place is a huge shift from New Zealand!
Shanghai is a very exciting city. A city filled with contrast. The old and the new, big and small, everything and nothing. The glamorous and the traditional. I was delighted to return recently to see how the city had fared post pandemic. New things had appeared, old things had disappeared but the city was busy and fun and back to full power!
I love the idea of freedom of choice and Shanghai gives you that in spades. I have been working for years with pre approved tailors and wonderful market vendors who provide the best service and craftsmanship.
A week in Shanghai is fun - nothing you have to do just enjoy fantastic shopping, stunning food and lots of laughs.
I have four spots left for my trip in September! Come on your own for bring a friend!
The other thing I am really looking forward to is Repotted.
Repotted is a retreat that I run in the stunning Coromandel. Three days to rest, relax and explore what's possible for you. A wonderful reset in the perfect location. Designed for women who are feeling a bit lost or looking for something more. Women who no longer know who they are or what they want from life. Some have had massive life changes that they want to make sense of and others are just feeling a bit stale and stuck! The early bird rate for the Repotted Retreat ends at the end of this month - so if you've been thinking about joining, now is the time (instalment payments available on request).
"What a fabulous few days. I loved the space, the people, the topics the food… & the energy that those few days gave me, as well as the focus moving forward." - Jill
